A Lutino Pearl cockatiel is a vibrant double mutation combining the solid yellow or white base of Lutino with the scalloped patterns of a Pearl. These birds are often nicknamed “lacewings” because of their distinctive dark yellow pearling across their light yellow or white bodies
Key Characteristics
- Coloration: They have bright yellow plumage, often more intense than a standard Lutino, with vibrant orange cheek patches.
- Eyes: Like all true Lutinos, they have red or ruby-colored eyes.
- Pearling: The “pearl” mutation removes melanin from the center of feathers, creating a speckled or scalloped effect. In Lutino Pearls, these spots are a deeper yellow than the surrounding feathers.
- Crest: They feature a bright yellow erectile crest used to communicate emotions like excitement or agitation
