A Cream Face Cockatiel is a rare and striking colour mutation that essentially acts as a middle ground between the common orange-cheeked cockatiel and the “Whiteface” mutation.
Visual Appearance
The Cream Face mutation significantly reduces the intensity of yellow and red pigments throughout the bird’s plumage.
- Face & Mask: Unlike the pure white face of a Whiteface cockatiel, the Cream Face has an off-white or “cream” mask.
- Cheek Patches: Instead of the typical vibrant orange “cheddar cheeks,” they have very dilute peach or pale yellow cheek patches.
- Crest: The crest often has a faint lemon-yellow tint, particularly near the base (cere).
- Body: Their body colour remains primarily grey, though they can be combined with other mutations like Lutino (resulting in a near-white bird with red eyes and faint cream facial highlights) or Pied.
